NFL stars give overseas troops a “Big Game NFL Fan Experience”

This January 26th through February 6th, Armed Forces Entertainment (AFE) is bringing twelve football-focused tours to our service members stationed abroad, visiting a variety of U.S. military installations across the globe. Each tour will bring a unique experience consisting of a combination of National Football League (NFL) alumni, current players, cheerleaders and mascots. From traditional meet and greets and photo ops to mini-youth football and cheer clinics, inspirational talks and cheer/dance performances, all the tours will culminate in a special, “Big Game NFL Fan Experience,” where attendees can enjoy the Super Bowl while mingling with the NFL personalities.
“This is a pretty great time of year for football fans, so we want to make sure our service members stationed overseas are getting to experience that buzz and excitement as well,” said Chief of Armed Forces Entertainment, Major Jody Wynans. “We realize, it’s not the same as tuning in to the big game from the comforts of home and that it’s not even close to being at the Super Bowl. But, it’s also not every day that you get to hang out watching the biggest game of the year with some of the NFL’s spectacular past and current athletes—which is pretty cool.”
The tours will visit U.S. military installations throughout the Europe, Mediterranean, Southwest Asia, Pacific and Western Hemisphere regions. Service members can expect alumni, players, cheerleaders and mascots from teams across the NFL including the Baltimore Ravens, Green Bay Packers, Los Angeles Chargers, Miami Dolphins, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Washington Redskins. Varying from what a typical “Super Bowl Sunday” party might look like stateside, at several sites, the game will be broadcast and celebrated on Monday morning due to the time difference. Attendees can enjoy the game over breakfast versus what is considered more traditional “game-watching fare.”
“There’s something for everyone,” said Wynans. “Whether our audience member may be a football enthusiast, an aspiring football or cheer athlete or just someone looking for a little inspiration and motivation to kick off the new year, anyone on base can come out to enjoy themselves and get a little break from life stationed overseas.”
“Football is a national pastime. Offering this touch of something that many Americans hold dear and true to their hearts, all the way to our troops overseas, is what AFE is all about,” said Wynans.
