AFE brings Star spangled music lineup to U.S. Troops
News

Australian popstar Natalie Imbruglia, Grammy-winning hip-hop artists Lecrae and Lupe Fiasco, rockers P.O.D., Drowning Pool, Papa Roach and the newly-reinvented LIT, blues siren ZZ Ward, Marine Veteran-rockers, American Hitmen and Nashville recording artist Danika Portz will perform for more than 100,000 U.S. service members who protect America’s freedom from overseas.
Spanning the five regions of the world Armed Forces Entertainment (AFE) serves, the Department of Defense agency is set to bring ten celebrated artists, across a range of musical genres, to perform for U.S. service members and their families stationed at installations in Europe, the Mediterranean, Southwest Asia, the Western Hemisphere and the Pacific.
While AFE provides yearlong-quality entertainment in the genres of music, comedy, sports and fitness and resiliency/motivational tours, this year’s U.S. Independence Day brings a more concentrated number of celebrity musical tours.
“For the upcoming Independence Day holiday, we wanted to give our overseas service members and their families, the high-quality entertainment that they deserve,” said Major Jody Wynans, Chief of Armed Forces Entertainment. “Some service members are stationed abroad with their families and some are in locations where that is not the case. For the Fourth, we wanted to make sure that no matter where they are in the world, we could offer them a touch of home in the form of entertainment, as a way to help celebrate America—just like they would back in the states.”
During their performances for the U.S. military audiences, the artists are expected to cover some of their most recognizable hits. Most will also be sharing new music, having recently released singles or albums to critical acclaim.
