Rock band Vertical Horizon is returning to tour with Armed Forces Entertainment (AFE) this spring. The group, which has performed extensively for military audiences, will tour for seven shows across Southwest Asia from May 17-27, 2024.
Vertical Horizon strives to deliver superior music by taking the artistically creative high road. Founder, writer, lead singer, and guitarist Matt Scannell drives and unites the group, constantly exploring new territories of inspiration: “Our music is coming from the purest place—there are no other considerations beyond ‘Do we like this? Does it mean something us?’”
Founded in the early 1990s as a duo, Vertical Horizon released three albums independently (“There and Back Again,” “Running on Ice,” and “Live Stages”) and toured extensively. In 1999, Vertical Horizon signed with RCA Records and experienced meteoric success with “Everything You Want,” selling more than two million copies. The title song captured the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 and Adult Top 40 charts and became the most-played single of 2000. Having carved out a page in the annals of music history, the band also garnered further radio attention with the singles “You’re a God” (reaching No. 4 on the Billboard Adult Chart) and “Best I Ever Had (Grey Sky Morning),” which became a 2005 Top 20 Country hit cover performed by country star Gary Allan.
In 2003, the band released the album “Go.” Its tracks such as “Inside,” “I’m Still Here” and “Forever” provided true commercial appeal, whereas deeper tracks, such as “When You Cry,” “Sunshine,” and “Echo” kept the band established as a formidable, no-nonsense rock entity.
The Vertical Horizon of today shares the practices of many long-enduring acts, including creative personnel entering and exiting the band roster, adding to their ever-expanding sonic tapestry. Their high-energy shows are filled with an assortment of their well-known songs and latest hits, drawing the fans into a riveting musical experience at every show.
