R&B AND READY

Baltimore-based Dru Hill has achieved longevity in the R&B genre, thanks to dynamic vocal harmonies and a fan base that has shown up strong for every release and concert of their career. Their 1990s popularity led to seven Top 40 hits, including the #1 hits “In My Bed,” “Never Make a Promise,” and “How Deep is Your Love.” Now with more than 40 million records sold, and sold-out live concerts worldwide, Dru Hill is celebrating the band’s success with this 25th anniversary tour. Founding members SisQó, Nokio and Jazz will be joined on stage by the two most recent additions to the band, Smoke and Black of the band Playa, plus former Dru Hill members Scola and Tao. You’re in store for a non-stop display of dynamic vocals and beats that spans the range of today’s R&B genres including soul, hip-hop soul and gospel.

SisQó

SisQó is the dynamic front man and founding member of the original Dru Hill foursome, giving the group its edge and soulful flavor. Singing since the age of two, his powerhouse vocals take amazing songs to new heights of artistry. SisQó is also known for his trend-setting style, choreography and everlasting universal popularity.

Nokio

Nokio, another founding member and the group’s in-house producer, is said to be responsible for Dru Hill’s mass appeal and staying power. Since the age of 14, his gifts as a vocalist, songwriter, producer and entrepreneur have blended to give the group its timeless sound and limitless potential.

Jazz

Jazz, also a founding member of Dru Hill, is the band’s second lead singer. During the group’s 1999 – 2002 hiatus, Jazz recorded a traditional R&B solo album. While Def Jam never released the album, three of its songs made it onto the Def Jam promotional mixtapes and two more surfaced on Def Jam soundtrack LPs. One tune, “Here With Me” was featured on the 2000 soundtrack of Nutty Professor II: The Klumps, and the soul track “Love Again” was included on the Rush Hour 2 soundtrack.

Scola

Scola has written and performed lead vocals for Dru Hill, most notably on “I Love You,” “Old Love,” and “I Should Be.” His collection of early jams features his hit “Let’s Get Personal” which received the Baltimore airplay needed to launch his career. He joined Dru Hill in 2001.

Tao

Even as a child, Tao stood out as an exceptional vocalist. Since joining the Dru Hill family in 2008, Tao has added another dimension of incredible singing to the group’s sound, including on the band’s fourth studio album, “Indrupendence Day.” He has also helped guide the singles “Love MD” and “Back to the Future” to become instant fan favorites.

Smoke

Grammy-award winning vocalist, songwriter, producer, and label-owner Smoke rose to fame as lead singer of the R&B group Playa. Playa’s hit single “Cheers 2 U” reached #3 on Billboard’s R&B/HipHop chart. Smoke has worked with Jodeci, Drake, and Chris Brown and comes to Dru Hill with a dynamic range, strong songwriting skills and a desire to blaze new trails toward the next era of R&B.

Black

Black is a singer, songwriter, and producer whose smooth vocals have graced the hits
of iconic artists like Aaliyah, Timbaland, Jodeci, and Ginuwine. As part of the R&B group Playa, he is known for the band’s smash hit “Cheers 2 U” released on Def Jam Recordings in 1998. Black is adding his soulful vibe and hit-making writing to Dru Hill’s legacy.
