AFE is bringing the noise with some returning AFE performers and new acts that will make this Heat Wave one for the books.
Pop music gets an infusion of the electronica with a huge dose of emotive vocals brought to you by Daya. This Pennsylvania native is an EDM staple who regularly appears on Spotify’s most played electronic artists thanks to her hit songs like “Hide Away” and “Sit Still, Look Pretty.” Daya’s breakthrough performance came as a featured artist on The Chainsmokers’ 9x platinum single “Don’t Let Me Down.” And with 1.8 billion views on YouTube, the song is both Daya and The Chainsmokers’ most viewed video and eventually led the gang to a Grammy win in 2017 for Best Dance Recording.
Daya will kick off Heat Wave with a performance on 7 June in the UK and will wrap up in Germany on 11 June.
Heat Wave RIMPAC
Heat Wave will be making a very special appearance at this year’s RIMPAC, a multinational military exercise that takes place bi-annually in Hawaii. Four live acts will take the stage on 30 June and 2 and 4 July.
Taking care of the country music side and headlining the RIMPAC shows is singer-songwriter Chase Rice. Chase is best known for his song “Eyes on You” but he’s also a country music penmen who’s written his own music as well as hits like Florida Georgia Line’s “Cruise” which featured Atlanta rapper Nelly.
Pop artist MAX who is known for his song “Lights Down Low” will be performing as well, and if we’re lucky, we’ll get to hear “Blueberry Eyes,” his hit with BTS singer and rapper SUGA.
Setting a more mellow vibe, Marc E. Bassy will take the stage to perform his hits including his collaboration with rapper G-Eazy called “You & Me” and “Levels.”
And topping off the Heat Wave RIMPAC lineup is The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus. This group rocks out with high energy alternative punk hits like “Face Down” which put the band on the map as a power group in the mid 2000s.
AFE favorite Sweet Siren are joining the Heat Wave tour to put their own twist on Top 40, country and classic rock hits. This cover band is headed to Europe for shows starting 25 June in the UK and wrapping up on 4 July in Germany. Custom arrangements and dominating stage presence make this act a midwest favorite, and their energy is sure to add some zest to Heat Wave.
Country music takes an autobiographical direction from singer-songwriter Jerrod Niemmann. Known for his hits like “Lover, Lover” Jerrod’s music crossed over to the pop spectrum through his collaboration with music superstar Pitbull on “Drink to That All Night.” Jerrod’s Heat Wave tour will take him to Europe in July with performances in the Netherlands on 1 July and Germany 2-4 July.
A three-chair turn for Kat Perkins on The Voice was the catalyst that propelled this singer-songwriter into the mainstream. Since her appearance on The Voice, Kat has released a ton of music including her single “Fearless” which appeared on several music charts in 2014. Kat isn’t a stranger to military tours and regularly tours overseas for various military venues. She will be on stages in Southwest Asia from July 1-5.
Headbangers and thrashers alike agree Dallas-based metal group Drowning Pool always delivers. Their song “Bodies” remains a classic and heavy influencer for today’s metal music scene. The group has also caught the attention of the WWE and performed the SmackDown theme “Rise Up” which is still a fan favorite. On this tour, Drowning Pool is celebrating the 20th anniversary of their best-selling platinum debut album, Sinner. They will be performing July 2 – July 4.
Australian rockers Sick Puppies have been hard-rocking since the late 90s and are returning to the AFE stage for this summer’s Heat Wave. With hits like their gold certified single “You’re Going Down” and “Maybe,” this group is infusing the Heat Wave lineup with a hefty dose of adrenaline and grit. Be sure to catch them from 2 July to 8 July in Southwest Asia.
While some cover bands perform songs from a variety of artists, this band takes music by the late Chris Cornell and continues his legacy as one of the greats to come out of the grunge and alternative rock scenes of the ’80s and ’90s. The tribute band is named for Cornell’s 1994 album with his band Soundgarden. Along with Soundgarden, Superunknown is also performing songs by Cornell’s other projects including Audioslave, Temple of the Dog as well as his solo music. Superunknown will play Guantanamo Bay 2 and 4 July.
Known for their smash hit “Cool Kids,” indie pop group Echosmith is set to take the stage during Heat Wave to deliver a unforgettable show. The band is a family affair with siblings Sydney, Noah and Graham Sierota taking inspiration from bands like Coldplay and U2 to form their unique alternative pop sound. Their continued success since their breakout in 2013 has led the band to work with names like Twenty One Pilots, Timbaland and Pentatonix.
Aly & AJ
From Disney Channel stars to pop music geniuses, sister act Aly & AJ are bringing their chart-topping music to Heat Wave. After a brief name change, the duo returned to their roots, original name and even re-recorded their hit song “Potential Breakup Song” to widespread acclaim and renewed popularity.
Aly & AJ’s latest album “A Touch of the Beat Gets You Up on Your Feet Gets You Out and Then Into the Sun” was released last year as a critical success with Billboard Magazine calling it one of the best albums of the first half of 2021.
