Iliza Shlesinger is from Dallas and is a graduate of Emerson College in Boston; alma mater of Jay Leno, Steven Wright and Dennis Leary to name just a few.
She moved to Los Angeles, the entertainment mecca of the west, with hopes of making it big there as a doctor. But she was forced to give up the risky profession of medicine and return to the stability of comedy to fulfill her parents deepest wishes for her to live a life filled with small-town, stale smelling bars and drunk, stale smelling guys hooting at her.
Somewhere between being constantly harassed and refusing to be paid in drugs rather than cash, she found time to become a regular performer at the world famous LA Comedy Store and the legendary Hollywood Improv.
Prior to being a stand up, she spent 4 years performing Improv with some talented performers and some really lame ones. Her credits include various sketch comedy/improv troupes as well as several important Los Angeles TV showcase rooms and multiple appearances in her parents living room during the holidays.
